Dubai - The Shopper's Paradise!

So what is the Dubai shopping Festival? Basically a shopping paradise. Dubai is know around the world as the shopping paradise throughout the year, but they really lay out the red carpet during this special month, with over 2,300 retails outlets participating, that offer everything imaginable from gold, perfume, haute couture, cars, electronics to handicrafts and textiles.

The city during the shopping festival is a splash of colours, some 30 million bulbs illuminating its streets and bylanes in electronic patterns. As you enter the spectacular fairyland, clowns direct you to your destinations and you are drowned by offers of free gifts and raffle tickets. Genuine goods and good shows await you. Dubai charges no duty, no tax: Goods are cheaper by 25 % to 50 % than in their country of origin.

Most hotels and appartments also get involved offering special offers during the period, even the world famous Burj Al Arab is included in the hotels.

They are scores of raffles that offer very attractive prices outlined below, most of the airlines flying out of Dubai offer discounted airfares and much needed excess baggage allowances during the festival.

There are other events as well, including international fashion shows, children's events, streetside performances, nightly fireworks, film festivals, and many other cultural events that reflect the emirate's cosmopolitan character.

Plus one of the biggest events of them all, the Dubai World Cup also takes place during the festival, and with a staggering US$ 12 million purse that makes it the richest horse race in the world - not something to miss.

THe Raffle Draws - Each day, a winner in the Dubai Shopping Festival 2005 will take home a Lexus 4x4, Lexus saloon and more than S$60,000 in cash in the Lexus Mega Raffle, and each week, one lucky winner walks away with a gorgeous Emaar Springs villa. On top of that, there are 52 Nissan vehicles and 32 kilogrammes of gold waiting to be raffled off in 32 days.

Just in case someone accused Dubai of not thinking of everything, they are even offering free health cards to all visitors, which will entitle them for free medical treatment if required during their stay.
